Knowledge For Life
About the Knowledge For Life Intiative
Knowledge for Life is a program in Northwest Indiana that supports young adults' ability to live healthy lives. We are working to strengthen the foundation of HIV/AIDS testing, treatment, and prevention services in Gary, East Chicago, Hammond, Lake Station, and surrounding communities by building capacity, providing free services, and engaging with young adults.
We currently offer free, rapid, oral HIV testing and counseling at the Room of Hope in Marram Health Center. We also offer an engaging and fun class for young adults that covers a wide range of relevant issues (called 'Color it Real').
Our services are planned by a Council of Directors that includes individuals from Marram Health Center, the Northwest Indiana Health Department Cooperative, and Indiana University. Financial support for the project is provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), HIV Capacity-Building Initiative. We welcome anyone who is interested in becoming a partner to contact us!
